Abel (アベル,Aberu) is a French martial artist described as an amnesiac, a "man with no past", who obsessively follows every lead on the whereabouts of Shadaloo's remnants. He was first seen in the game Street Fighter IV.
Story
Edit
Covered in scars from head to toe, Abel was found in the burning remains of a Shadaloo base and nursed back to health by a group of mercenaries, working alongside them to find out his past and defeat Shadaloo once and for all. He recognizes Guile's unique martial art, but refuses to comment when Guile presses him for information regarding Charlie, the originator of the style. Abel is adept at using both striking and throwing moves.
In Abel's SSFIV ending, it is revealed that he was actually created by Shadaloo as a prototype of Seth. This is reinforced by dialogue from both Bison and Seth, who mention him as "the one that got away". The appearance of his eyes also change to resemble Seth's during the initiation of his Ultra Combo. Also, Charlie was the soldier that rescued him from Shadaloo and gave him his name. A French mercenary and Charlie had met during maneuvers with the USAF, and the mercenary was the only person Charlie felt he could trust with Abel's care. Charlie knew the truth about Abel when he had discovered him and took pity on him, feeling Abel was an innocent who had played into the hands of evil. The Frenchman brought Abel to the hospital and disappeared, later dying in a car accident.
Other Information
Edit
His moveset mostly revolves around mixing up different punches and kicks and baiting, and also emphasizes cancelling his standing medium kick cancelled into a dash or standing hard punch, and further mixing up additional punches or kicks from there. His Ultra Combo Soulless involves him delivering a series of punches and kicks to his opponent, throwing them into the air and body slamming them back down on to the ground.
Abel is voiced by Kenji Takahashi in Japanese, and E. Jason Liebrecht in English. In his original design as explained SFIV battle planner Taisaku Okada, he was a young judo fighter who wore pigtails and "could be mistaken for a girl."
Abel could be the father of Remy but Capcom has neither confirmed nor denied this.
