Capcom Database Wiki

Well, I was still working on the the S. I was thinking we should drop the "Wiki" from the title and just call it the "Capcom Database", similar to how http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Mega_Man_Wiki refers to themselves as "Mega Man Knowledge Database", even though their URL is just "megaman". I was thinking that because there are so many individual Capcom wikis (RE, MM, SF, etc.), that "Capcom Database" makes it sound like this is the home base for the other wikis. Request accepted! To be honest, I had forgotten that the PS3 even had a social aspect. I never play online games, although I am getting into the DC Universe Online beta.

So, I've been scouring the Capcom websites for any official art or wallpapers, and I think they're running dry. Let me know I'm being obnoxious at all, or if you have any questions about what I'm doing. I figure, only upload the highest resolutions, as the wiki software can resize it before you download, and as long as it's within the scope of the project it can't hurt anything. Some of the descriptions are kinda long, but the more words in the file name, the more likely an image will be picked up by a Google image search. Categories and this new skin

Not trying to make work for you, I was just going in stages; first uploading and later organizing. I've had problems with this wiki interface, especially with categories. Maybe I'm mistaken, but to get rid of a category I've had to move to Monobook, then edit, then switch back. Am I missing something or is this interface that buggy?

Capcom Unity

Also, I'm trying to get Template:Randomcharacter to show as a gallery (by adding way too much coding), so you can always see what images have been added and how they will display. Okay, so HTML isn't quite as smart as I gave it credit for. I had to make the code on the template completely crazy, but it looks great in both places. I even tested it on my user page, and there are no errors. It doesn't look like many other users have used that page, so I'm not too stressed. Please take a look at the code (Template:Randomcharacter) and make sure that you can still use it. If you just copy an entry and replace the relevant parts, it should work fine. Street Fighter Characters

Yes, but what I'm doing is making a sortable table. Eventually it will list every game and whether or not the character was in that game, if it was their first game, if they were non-palayable, or if it was a cameo. It was the <noinclude></noinclude> tags. When you use these tags on a template, the text that they surround only appears on the template, and not on the pages they are included in. The opposite tag is <includeonly>, which doesn't show anything on the template, and only shows on the pages it is included on. That's how I made the random character template show as a gallery when you look at it, but only as one picture when it's on the main page. So, it appears that Wikia has answered my email and the wiki is now titled "Capcom Database". I moved the main page to Capcom Database. So the only thing left is Wikia to rename the Project: namespace (as in Capcom Database Wiki:Capcom on Netflix) and all transitions will be complete. Licensed Games

I decided to go crazy! I just started going down the GameSpot list. I figured that if our focus is Capcom, we should at least have a stub for every game. I don't know how much info we'll ever be able to get on Capcom Baseball, but if a non-Capcom site is listing it, we should too! Personally, some of my favorite Capcom games growing up were Disney games, like Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, and my absolute favorite was Little Nemo: The Dream Master (I still have the NES cartridge, with no NES, just in case). And there are some pretty cool sounding obscure ones like El Dorado Gate and Bounty Hunter Sara. As far as the main page, that's your territory.

Hey, what do you think of the template:stub? It was the best I could think of to show construction (the theme is "Mega Men at work"). Feel free to change it. I wanted to ask your opinion on an image. I wanted to do a little cleanup on File:Yo!_Noid_NES_cover.jpg and went crazy (File:Yo!_Noid_NES_cover.png). Now, I don't know much about image editing, and I had a lot of issues with the bottom-left corner. I copied that corner from a lower-resolution image and tried to reconcile them, and eventually I got too tired. First off, are you a machine or something?!?! How are you able to have a family and still work as hard as you do here? Every time I come to this wiki there have been a billion edits to every page here, 97.5% from Icysugarspike. Thanks again for making this site so awesome.

Second off, I have no idea what you are doing to the MM images, but they do look great. When you do that thing you do again, could you leave an old version so I can actually see the difference? I'd like to be able to fully appreciate the improvement.

Third off, I keep starting to leave messages on your Profile page because 1) your signature doesn't have a talk page link (on WP it's default, but not on Wikia) and 2) your profile page is covered in talk page messages. I was looking at those messages and I noticed this User:Icysugarspike#Terrible Decision. I take it you are currently not as worried as you were previously?

And finally, I have been wondering, did you start this wiki? I assumed so but then I saw this.

Also, I'd be amazed if Capcom has ever gone after anyone for images. Judging by how hands-off Wikia is, I don't they've received very many letters from Nintendo or Sega lawyers. Seeing as how they are encouraging these fan sites, and they are the ones making the money off them, they would be the ones to get in trouble if there was trouble to be had. Capcom is so cool about it that they actually distribute "fan site kits" for some of their games, and the Bionic Commando one actually had ultra-high-res Photoshop files in it. Got it! When you say that they look like they came out of a book, you mean that there is a grainy texture to them like it is a photo, instead of the line drawing that it is. Something to make those templates easier, Template:Link Color. The first parameter is the target page, and you can enter any color as the second parameter. The third parameter is the display text. The default color is white, and the default text is the targetTemplate:lc is a shortcut.

That sounds great. I'd thought of something similar, but I don't have the attention span to keep up on current events. Putting focus on those games would probably get the wiki more attention, but it also means more work if more good editors don't come with it.

On an unrelated note, how would you feel about calling pages Darkstalkers Series instead of Darkstalkers (Series). I mean, since this wiki is all about Capcom games and series, we don't have to worry about Wikipedia naming conventions. I need to confirm something...

Hi, this is Airslaher18 again, the one who contributed greatly to the Rival Schools character pages! I would just like to verify if the Chairperson really does make an appearance in the game SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters DS. I happen to have seen a copy of this game at a game store near the place where I work. I have here an image of the back of the Japanese package of this game. Can you confirm this for me, before you or I add this bit of trivia to the Chairperson page?

I fixed up the main page. I haven't been on Wikia much at all recently, though I will probably come back soon. I get burnt out working on the same thing for too long, and I have a short attention span. I've been working to clean up RPG articles on Wikipedia, and just today I merged and reformatted their RPG lists (see here). I am not going to abandon the Database. Hey ISS! I wanted to upload some pictures, but I'm completely Wiki-tarded so I thought I'd straight up ask you first. They'd be scans from the CFC books, but I was wondering if you'd rather I put them on the CFC page, or with their relevant games? Not gonna lie, this has messed with my head. Collecting and supporting Capcom has obviously been a huge part of my life, but right now I am not sure I want to continue calling myself a fan of theirs or if I want to try to keep up with Mega Man anymore. I was thinking if I should separated the Vampire Savior 2 & Vampire Hunter 2 article into it's own page? Or should it stay in the DarkStalkers 3 page?
