Dark Talbain (Dark Gallon in Japan) is a character in the Darkstalkers series of fighting games. He is a evil version of Jon Talbain.
Biography[]
His evil side appears as a boss/secret character in Vampire Savior; he is a pallete swap version of Talbain (only difference is the color the character sprite has a glowing and shadowy effect, like Dee's Dhylec sword) and his moves are the same as the second game. His story is somewhat unknown, but it is tied to Talbain. Given Jon Talbain’s story in Vampire Savior of dealing with and choosing his side as a man or a wolf, he appears to be the manifestation of Jon Talbain’s dark or primal instincts as a werewolf and/or darkstalker, presumably a hallucination manifested from his psyche or subconscious. If Dark Talbain remains as only a strong illusion Jon perceives as real or an actual being who manifested somehow, possibly from the warped nature of the Majigen, that he actually physically fights is unknown. His sprite is also somewhat different than Talbain.

- Dark Talbain only appears in Vampire Savior and Vampire Hunter 2.
- His winning theme is heard in The Chaos Tower BGM section, but he's not playable in the game. It is unknown if he was removed or not.
- Shadow is encountered by Dark Talbain. It is unknown whether or not Shadow has something to do with Dark Talbain.
- His other name is for unknown reasons Original Talbain. One possibility is that “original” in this case is used as a synonym for “primal” as in the original primal instincts that werewolves and other darkstalkers have ingrained in them. It could also be more of a gameplay reference in how he uses Jon Talbain’s original moveset.
- Dark Talbain has only two color variants, both are just two of Jon Talbain’s preexisting alternate colors but with an effect on them.
- Some of Jon Talbain’s attacks have been updated after the second game so Dark Talbain uses the animations for attacks that Jon no longer uses.
