Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, a downloadable game developed by Backbone Entertainment for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade service and Sony's PlayStation Network, is the third game in the Commando series.

It was released in June 2008, and is the second sequel to Capcom's Commando arcade game, following Mercs, the name Wolf of the Battlefield being a literal translation of the original game's Japanese title (Senjō no Ōkami).

Plot[]

General Ratiev, evil leader of the Zalestad nation, must be stopped. At the player's disposal is a huge arsenal of weaponry, controllable vehicles, and a rag-tag group of specialized soldiers, each with their own unique characteristics.

Characters[]

  • Wolf - (real name: Roy McMurray) - a grizzled former marine, Wolf enjoys his work a little too much. Known for shooting anything that moves.
  • Fox - not much is known about Fox. Her records have been wiped clean; nevertheless, her skills at espionage and covert ops are known and feared far and wide.
  • Coyote - (real name: Antonio Carranza) - the cranky vet of the bunch, specialist Coyote has been involved in full blown war, covert ops, and police actions. He is renowned for his love of explosives.

Reception[]

The game received "average" reviews on both platforms according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.[1][2] TeamXbox said, "Commando 3 definitely has its appeal, but a lot more could have been done to extend the gameplay or just make it feel more varied."[3] Official Xbox Magazine said, "This three-player scrolling shooter has that old-school, spray-and-slay mojo that your inner rageaholic craves."[4]
