Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (Monster Hunter Portable 2nd in Japan) is a 2007 PSP game in the Monster Hunter series. It is not a direct port of Monster Hunter 2, but instead a portable update. New features have been added while others were removed to make the game appropriate for a portable console.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

New CreatureEdit

  • Tigrex - a Flying Wyvern whose wings have evolved into forelegs, which allows it to run at very fast speeds. Though it possesses a pair of adequately-developed wings, it is rarely seen flying (in the traditional sense). It is in fact more prone to gliding from location to location. It has a powerful set of lungs which gives it the ability to produce extremely loud, concussive roars which can physically damage nearby objects. Unlike many other monsters, the Tigrex does not wield control of any elements. Instead, it relies on its sheer brute strength to bring down opponents.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G in Japan) is a 2008 expansion upgrade to Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Although just an expansion, it has a huge amount of new features (among other things, it features the exclusive monster the Nargacuga).

New featuresEdit

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has more missions, equipment, and monsters than Monster Hunter Freedom 2. A new feature is a Felyne fighter to help players on their quests. In addition, the player can now hold up to 99 of each item type in his/her item box, store up to 20 equipment sets, and get ten equipment pages instead of six. A new type of quest, the "Epic Hunting Quest", was introduced, which enabled hunters to take on, one by one, up to more than 4 different monsters in one quest.

New CreatureEdit

  • Nargacuga - a Flying Wyvern that has the ability to attack with almost every part of its body, but mostly its bladed wings and its spiked tail. Its head can be used for biting, similar to the Tigrex. Its bladed wings are used for almost the entire battle, dealing high damage. The tip of its tail is extremely dangerous. When in rage mode, its tail spikes will protrude until it gets out of it (although they protrude when it uses tail slams and shoots tail spikes). Nargacuga also has strong muscles that let it jump really long and high.
